I need a layer 2 fixed-configuration access switches, which has 48 10/100/1000 Ethernet Ports. My friend suggested that I can choose WS-C2960X-48LPS-L and WS-C2960X-48LPD-L , But what is the main differences between the two?

Can I use a 3rd party transceiver on WS-C2960S-24TS-L?
We using the WS-C2960X-48LPS-L Cisco Catalyst 2960 Switches, but with the development of the company, we need more bandwidth to support our work. Someone suggest to add a SFP module on the switch to meet my requirements. But as far as I know, the original SFP module is much too expensive. Can I use a 3rd party transceiver on WS-C2960S-24TS-L?

Can't map non-VLAN1 ports on Cisco 4506?
I have Solarwinds Switchport mapper, version 10.2.0.33, and of course my boss let the service on it lapse in 2010, because I've never needed support for this tool until now. When I try to map non-VLAN1 ports on my Catalyst 4506 switches, I get the error that the device does not support Bridge MIB. If I try using SNMP credentials public@1, it works. Just bare "public" also works for VLAN 1. But public@5 or anything else but 1 returns the above error.
Non VLAN1 port mapping works on other devices, like a Catalyst 2960 switch or a 3COM 4500 switch on my network.
The 4506 switches are running IOS version 12.2(53)SG.
Any ideas?

i'm recently installed the switched port mapper on one of my servers and hoping to start the port mapping of MAC addre. to IP addre. because all of you know the benfite of this mapping.
once i've installed the Switch port mapper and start to use it, i found somthing ware in mapping procedure, i cann't see the ip addresses in the ip addre. field that is corrsponding to specific MAC addre.?
i can see the vlan ID and MAC addres. and other several fields but the ip address associates with specific MAC addre. of Specific port cann't be displayed.
i'm very happy if someone facing this problem before and he could to solve it, then instruct me for the solution.

Credential Test Failed...
On our Cisco switches SNMP is activated and works fine for Solarwinds NPM.
But in the new software Switch Port Mapper I get an error message "Credential Test Failed".
It doesn't matter if I use SNMP v1/2c or SNMPv3
Does anyone know what I have to activate on my Cisco switches that I can use this software?

I am trying to map the ports on a Cisco Nexus 5596 (layer 2 switch). Layer 3 switch is Cisco Nexus 7000.

not grabbing layer 3 ...IPs
I have checked the box to get Layer 3 also on my Cisco 3560 switch but I still am missing most of the IPs for the devices connected to the ports. Especiall the PC that hang off our Avaya IP phones. Do I need to do more configuration on the switch to get the missing info

Switch port mapper hanging when scanning any more than 2 stacked Cisco 2975GS-48PS switches
I am using SolarWinds version 9 and when I scan ports on more than 2 stacked Cisco WS-C2975G-48PS switches port mapper hangs , I'm using SNMP ver 2. Anyone have any
ideas? I can scan these switches fine as long as they aren't stacked more than 2 deep. Thanks Ken

Monitoring Brocade Switch Health using Solarwinds Orion NPM

I have 2 Brocade Switches, model 5100
Appl Primary/Secondary Versions

I want to monitor their health using the Solarwinds NPM.
The default poller is not helping much and I guess I need to create a custom poller.
I am not an expert on Orion, so Are there any ready pollers available, which I can import and use
I would like to monitor,
1. Port Errors
2, Port Statistics
3. Switch Health(all the Physical components)

SNMP v3 in Switch Port Mapper
Hi - I can't seem to find a way in Switch Port Mapper to set it for SNMP v3. The only options I see for an 'existing credential' are SNMP v1/2c.

I would like to know whether the SFP+ module can work in catalyst 2960-S-48FPD-L switches?
I have five Catalyst 2960-S-48FPD-L switches and needed to know if this SFP+ module will work in it: GLC-LH-SM. I have the the GLC-SX-MM modules in them now, which are working. However, I get no activity on the GLC-LH-SM modules. I need to know if I can use them or have to return them, any help in the matter would be appreciated.

Switch Port Mapper
when using Switch port mapper I noticed that some of my switch interfaces are showing a 1/2/2015 as the "Last Status Change". Does anyone know why I am seeing a 2015 date, and how I can fix this? I have looked at the settings, and just cant seem to find where this date is coming from.
