Switch Port Mapper

when using Switch port mapper I noticed that some of my switch interfaces are showing a 1/2/2015 as the "Last Status Change". Does anyone know why I am seeing a 2015 date, and how I can fix this? I have looked at the settings, and just cant seem to find where this date is coming from.

I need a layer 2 fixed-configuration access switches, which has 48 10/100/1000 Ethernet Ports. My friend suggested that I can choose WS-C2960X-48LPS-L and WS-C2960X-48LPD-L , But what is the main differences between the two?

Question about VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1 cards

I'm trying to setup a lab with 3 routers where I'm using VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1 cards.  I'd like to really take advantage of these cards being that they came with the routers. I'm having trouble bringing up the interfaces.  I'm showing a serial interface up, line protocol down.  Being that I'm using T1 crossover cables and not a DCE/DTE cable, I don't believe the clock rate command will apply here.  Am I correct in this assumption?  I also tried chaning the encapsulation to PPP, but I still can't bring the interface up.  What am I missing?  I tried using the 'debug serial interface' but I still need to learn to use it.  Any suggestions?

Monitoring Brocade Switch Health using Solarwinds Orion NPM

Hi,

I have 2 Brocade Switches, model 5100

Appl     Primary/Secondary Versions

------------------------------------------

FOS      v6.4.0b

         v6.4.0b

I want to monitor their health using the Solarwinds NPM.

The default poller is not helping much and I guess I need to create a custom poller.

I am not an expert on Orion, so Are there any ready pollers available, which I can import and use

I would like to monitor,

1. Port Errors

2, Port Statistics

3. Switch Health(all the Physical components)

Thanks and Regards,

  HI all,

i'm recently installed the switched port mapper on one of my servers and hoping to start the port mapping of MAC addre. to IP addre. because all of you know the benfite of this mapping.

once i've installed the Switch port mapper and start to use it, i found somthing ware in mapping procedure, i cann't see the ip addresses in the ip addre. field that is corrsponding to specific MAC addre.?

i can see the vlan ID and MAC addres. and other several fields but the ip address associates with specific MAC addre. of Specific port cann't be displayed.

i'm very happy if someone facing this problem before and he could to solve it, then instruct me for the solution.

What do I need to do to get the LAN base template loaded?

Hello all, I have a switch on a remote site that I need to act as a router. The switch is a cisco WS-C2960S-24TS-S.I understand that in order to do this, the switch needs to have the LANbase SDM. This is my current setup:

SW01#sh sdm prefer
The current template is "default" template.
The selected template optimizes the resources in
the switch to support this level of features for
0 routed interfaces and 255 VLANs.

number of unicast mac addresses: 8K
number of IPv4 IGMP groups: 0.25K
number of IPv6 multicast groups: 0.25K
number of IPv4/MAC qos aces: 0.375k
number of IPv4/MAC security aces: 0.375k
number of IPv6 policy based routing aces:         0
number of IPv6 qos aces: 0
number of IPv6 security aces: 0.125k

What do I need to do to get the LAN base template loaded?

Do I need to upgrade the ios? If so, do I need to purchase a Smartnet in order to download this?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Doesn't bring up completed tables

Hey all,

I'm wondernig if anyone else is experiencing this fantastic bug.  Half of the time I run switchport mapper it will say complete, and then fail to bring up the tables that actually shows the information.  I input all community strings correctly, hit "Map ports", it then says complete and just sits there like an A-hole.  Anyone else running into this with the newer version?

I literally have to REBOOT my PC, put in the same information, and then it works like a charm.  I've gone so far as to kill all services associated with it and then restart the application.  Apparently that is not drastic enough for the tool.  Also on that note, the command line version of it, which is sadly how I need to export said tables now only works half of the time.  Same deal... Literally a reboot and then it decides to work.  Can we get a GUI to export into a CSV or XML already?  It was available in previous versions... Pretty useful!

I've tested it on two machines, one Win7 64 and the other Win7 32, same result.

Thanks all,

Rummy

snmp is working fine.

Switch Port Mapper and Orion NPM

Hello Everyone,

I've done some searching on how to integrate Switch Port Mapper and Orion NPM, but so far everything I've read says you have to have the entire Engineering Toolset.  Well, considering that I have NPM and that most of what is in the Toolset is done by NPM one way or another, I would like to purchase Switch Port Mapper separately.  If I do that, can I still do the integration?

Thanks,

Matt

MAC address found is wrong

I have the Switch Port Mapper of the Engineer's Toolset, and I try to look at one HP ProCurve 1810G 24 switch.

It gives me all the interfaces with connected MAC addresses on each port. But the MAC is wrong.

Example : My computer has mac address : 64:31:50:77:64:54, but on the port that my computer is connected, it shows 0258.6431.5077. So somehow, it is shifted 2 bytes and the 64:54 part is gone, and 0258 is prefixed.

How come this is happening?

Can I use a 3rd party transceiver on WS-C2960S-24TS-L?

We using the WS-C2960X-48LPS-L Cisco Catalyst 2960 Switches, but with the development of the company, we need more bandwidth to support our work. Someone suggest to add a SFP module on the switch to meet my requirements. But as far as I know, the original SFP module is much too expensive. Can I use a 3rd party transceiver on WS-C2960S-24TS-L?

Any reliable way to map Cisco Switch Ports and Vlans?

$

I have a small herd of cisco 6509's that we need to map out the ports on. We have have a pretty full set of Solarwinds stuff- Orion, NCM, SAM, NPM, IPAM, NTA, and Engineers Toolkit.

Problem is that nothing completely and accurately maps them out!.

Started with Switch Port Mapper - which has a problem skipping ports, skipping vlans assigned to ports, and in a few spots incorrectly reporting the vlan on a port. Opened a ticket - was told "its a Cisco problem".. yet I can browse the MIB and see the information there.. plus used the command line tool, captured the output, and I can see it coming over.

So then I tried NCM.  While it correctly maps vlans to ports, but it too has a nasty habit of skipping ports. And the reporting tool will not report on ports that are down.... even though that's not a condition of the report.

Kind of frustrated at how complex this has become - we have lots of tools, but nothing seems to be able to accurately complete what I think would be a basic question (give me a report of all the ports on this switch and what the vlans are assigned to them).

So I'm looking at taking these reports, and then having to manually verify each and every port (we have 9 fairly fully populated 6509 switches).

I'd like to be doing something else for the next 4 weeks.

Anyone gotten this to work?

Thanks,

Don

Is there a way to update or add to the Manufacturer name?

I have been running this report as I am in the process of a Cisco switch refresh but I am finding that I am receiving a lot of "Unknown" manufacturer but I can take the mac and drop it into the OUI search at WireShark and it returns the proper name.  I use this information to determine the users that need to be informed prior to performing the network closet refresh.  Thanks in advance!
